Who the Subprime Mortgage Plan Really Helps?
As the government works to step in and assist consumers all around
the country with the daunting task of keeping their home there are
plenty of questions about who will receive the help and who is left
out. Deciding exactly what help, you are able to receive as well
as how to get that help is not always easy, and many consumers are
so overwhelmed they cannot find the solution.
It seems that in a time where the economy is extremely shaky and
the number of people losing their homes is steadily rising that
a subprime mortgage plan would be designed that could help the people
currently at risk. The fact that the only people who are even eligible
of being helped by the subprime mortgage plan are those who are
not currently in default for their loan locks a lot of people out
of the help that they severely need in able to regain control over
their homes and ensure that they have a place to live. Moving towards
the future new programs are in the works that will help the borrowers
already in default, but for the time being the subprime mortgage
plan is designed to protect only those who are not currently in
danger.
It is expected that the subprime mortgage plan is going to shut
out
approximately 1.2 million consumers who will not be capable
of receiving help with their mortgage. The good news is that while
1.2 million are shut out, there are still millions of others who
are going to be assisted from the interest rate freeze. The consumers
who will be helped are going to have the benefit of an interest
rate freeze that will prevent their mortgage payments from going
up for a period of at least 5 years.
This is expected to be a huge help for those who are currently
able to make their payments but could quite easily find themselves
tied into a foreclosure process if their payment went up any higher
than it presently has risen. For the consumers who have been nervously
sitting around waiting on a substantial interest rate increase the
subprime mortgage plan is a truly huge help that will serve a large
number of consumers quite well.
While the requirements to be approved for the current subprime
mortgage plan are extremely firm, there are still a large number
of people who will be assisted by the program. The unfortunate aspect
that does remain is those consumers who have been unable to keep
up with their present payments will find themselves out of the program
before it ever really gets off the ground. It is extremely recommended
that any consumer that is teetering on the brink of foreclosure
do their absolute best to hang on until the subprime mortgage plan
is put into full effect so that they will be able to take full advantage
of the program.
Waiting until the last minute to get the mortgage help that you
need is never an advisable situation. Seeking out help as quickly
as possible is very important and will ensure that you are able
to remain in your home for a very long time. The subprime mortgage
plan may not be perfect by any means, but it certainly is casting
a ray of hope for millions of Americans who would otherwise be in
foreclosure very quickly.
